Porcupine

Post-shopping depression

I bought a flat-screen monitor yesterday. It is cool, not just in design but also in that it doesn't use a lot of power and convert to heat. Even so, I was disappointed to notice that it did not make me happy. When you spend $400 on an item, the least you would expect is for it to make you happy, otherwise you might as well have paid tax or something. This depressed me for a little while, and I thought about the futility of all things and the end of the universe. (This time, it is going to tear itself apart - this varies with each new discovery.) I started to write an angsty journal entry.

But then I considered that I was already happy before I bought this thing, so I simply continued doing the things I use to do and was happy again.
