Update in progress

New computer is cute. New computer came with network installed, so I plugged in cable, told XP to make a new connection with DSL, and got right on the Net. Installed XP service pack 1. Installed LiveJournal. Installed Opera net browser and SUN Java. Now installing critical updates for Windows XP.

New computer is smelly, though. Good thing the great cold ended. Now open windows to get rid of chemicals in air. (Perhaps Brominated Flame Retardants. Not good for humans.) There is more and more of smell as new computer gets hotter and hotter.

Installed Morrowind. Installed Lilarcor plug-in for Morrowind. Installed Weathered Signs plug-in for Morrowind. Installed Tribunal expansion pack for Morrowind. Updated plug-ins. Created female character with freaking big sword. Tested. All is well.

The machine still stinks of hot chemicals, worse than ever.

Update in progress

Installed Dark Age of Camelot. Installed Shrouded Isles expansion pack. Due to having windows open for ventilation, there is now spider in my sink. New computer seems to have not 4, as in the illustration, but 5 USB ports. This is good. Two of them are in front. This is weird. Also connections for microphone and earphones are duplicated in front. This is good. Downloaded patches for Dark Age of Camelot. (Thank the Light for small ADSLs). Plugged in USB connected to USB hub connected to Zip disk with my E-mail and Chaos Node workspace from the previous computer. System recognized in a matter of seconds. Off to test DAoC-SI on hardware it was built for.

Further progress ...

Downloaded and installed MS Chat 2.5. Downloaded and installed OpenOffice.Org 1.0.2. Copyed mail and journal folders from zip to local harddisk. Hug out on #acidreflux.

Graphics in DAoC Shrouded Isles were beautiful and fast. But just like in real life, there are limits to how long you can just stand there admiring the water before you get it in your head to kill the water beetles.
