I thought that was Europe as a whole, not just Scandanavia, Poland excepted.

Well, the Netherlands are about the same as Scandinavia. The French have their disturbingly femininte body language, but they know how to keep their women down. Pretty much all Catholic countries (and this includes southern Germany) have a much more macho culture than the North.

I know someone who was an honorary lesbian--he had a medal saying so presented him in a fashion not unlike a knighting ceremony.

The medal was cardboard, mind, but still.
